Nairametrics has announced the nominees for the Capital Market Journalist of the Year award category at the 2026 Capital Market Awards.

The category recognises outstanding journalists whose work is shaping capital market conversations while informing and educating the public through their media platforms.

The nominees in the tightly contested category are Rotus Oddiri of Arise News, Nancy Illoh-Nnaji of AIT, Ladi Williams of Channels TV, and Tolulope Ogunjobi of TVC.

Voting commenced on Monday, June 1, 2026, and will end on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Meet the nominees 

Aruoture “Rotus” Oddiri is a business correspondent and host of Global Business Report on Arise TV, which is broadcast across the African continent and in the U.K.

  • Rotus is an Economics graduate of the University of Houston, with a minor in Business Administration. He has more than two decades of experience in banking and finance, gained from working in the United States of America and Nigeria.
  • Nancy Illoh-Nnaji is the anchor and executive producer of Moneyline with Nancy, which airs on AIT. Her broadcasting career began at Delta Broadcasting Television, Asaba, while she was still a student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Nancy rose to national prominence as part of the pioneering team behind The Money Show, a business television magazine programme on Africa Independent Television, where she co-produced and co-anchored from the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

  • Ladi Williams is a business correspondent and news anchor at Channels TV. He is known for his expertise in the Nigerian and international capital markets, commodities, currencies, and cryptocurrencies.

He frequently anchors and moderates business-related TV programmes and conferences. His focus areas include economic matters, technology, fintech, and global business trends.

  • Tolulope Ogunjobi is the Business Editor and Anchor at TVC, with over a decade of experience.

Ogunjobi is also a Chartered Graduate Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management.

With the theme, “Capital Markets as a Pathway to Responsible Wealth Creation,” the 2026 Capital Market Awards will recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions by individuals and institutions that have played critical roles in advancing the growth and stability of Nigeria’s capital market over the past year.

Nairametrics held the maiden edition of the Capital Market Awards in 2025, attracting top leaders in Nigeria’s financial industry and policymakers.

The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.

The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, delivered the keynote address at the event.

This year’s edition will feature 25 award categories, including honorary recognitions for individuals whose contributions have significantly shaped the development of the capital market.

Organisers said this year’s awards will build on the success of the first edition and promises to be bigger and better.
